Travel to Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands are a South Atlantic archipelago, located about 300 miles east of the Patagonian coast of South America. The islands have seen several different governments take responsibility for them, which has resulted in a variety of settlements contributing to the local culture of the islands.

What makes the Falklands so unique is its location along the tundra and sub-Antarctic climate zones. You’ll find penguin populations, beautiful beaches, albatrosses, and stunning sunsets await.

Weddell Island is the best place to view a sunset during a stay on the Falklands. It provides an exclusive view and there will rarely be anyone else around, except for a guide you may take to get you there. It is one of the best places in the world to enjoy a moment of peace in true solitude.

Fishing is a way of like in the Falkland Islands and the Murrell River on Stanley loves to provide. The largest trout ever caught from the river was above 10kg. There are several other fishing opportunities available, including some that are available off-shore, for those who enjoy this form of relaxation.

A war was fought in the Falklands in 1982 and many museums have relics and memorials dedicated to the conflict. Remnants of wreckage still dot the islands and the battlefields have become a place of quiet remembrance on all the islands. The wreckage has been left untouched, so all visitors are advised not to touch anything they may find.

With a breakfast of mutton chose, homemade soup for lunch, and home-grown vegetables with fresh-caught trout before retiring, the Falkland Islands are a refreshing change of pace.
