Travel to Pitcairn Islands

The Pitcairn Islands are a group of 4 volcanic islands that are located in the South Pacific. Only Pitcairn, the largest island, is inhabited. The permanent population is believed to be a mix of Polynesians or Tahitians and the 9 mutineers of the HMAV Bounty, as evidenced by the surnames of those who live here.

About 50 people, from 4 main families, make Pitcairn their home, making it the smallest national jurisdiction in the world.

Adventure tourism is the primary reason to visit Pitcairn. The islands stay with local families during their visit and the local government operates a vessel which makes the island accessible for 4-day or 11-day holidays. Options include private apartments or fully-furnished homes, depending on how the holiday is booked.

Because the families on the island can trace their lineage to the Bounty, much of the experience found in Pitcairn is linked to it. You’ll find wood carvings, hand-painted leaves, woven baskets, and plenty of other souvenir opportunities available to remember the experience. Honey production is a growing industry on the island and should be enjoyed to its fullest extent during your stay.

You’ll also find the world’s largest no-take Marine Reserve along Pitcairn, providing more than 840,000 square kilometers that provide marine life with a needed sanctuary. Life is abundant in these waters and it may be possible to book a charter or yacht to take you to good snorkeling or diving sites, depending on the weather.

Pitcairn is one of the most unique holiday destinations the world has to offer. You can find a unique adventure waiting for you here.
