Travel to Caorle

You’ll find Caorle in the province of Venice where the Lemene and Livenza Rivers come together. It’s also on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, situated between the communities of Bibione and Eraclea. Founded in the 1^st century BC by the Romans, the ancient name of the city is believed to have been named for the wild goats in the region.

The most prominent structure in Caorle is the Cathedral of St. Stephen. It was built in the 11^th century and is a sterling example of the fusion in Byzantine, Ravennate, and Romanesque styles. The façade is simple, but inside you’ll find several masterpieces from the Venetial school of art. Even if you don’t come for the religious or architectural sights, come to see The Last Supper.

Outside, the bell tower rises to 48m and also dates to the 11^th century. With its cylinder structure and a cone-shaped cusp, it is one of the world’s most unique ancient structures. Within the Cathedral, you’ll find a wonderful museum that contains remnants of the first ancient church that was built on the site. Holy vessels, vestments, and alter clothes from the Capurulan bishops and Pope John XXIII are present as well.

Be sure to take a walk out to the Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Angel during your stay. With its coastal location, the views are magnificent. The old town center is still structure as a Venetian corner and the beach offers Summer activities for the whole family. If you’re looking for a traditional holiday experience and you’ve always wanted to see Italy, Caorle is a lovely destination to choose.
