What to see and do in Arrowtown ?

Many of the activities available in Haast are nature related, so this is definitely the place to be if you love all things natural. You can explore the extraordinary beauty that surrounds Haast on your own, or with a tour. You can also take tours by land, sea and even air!

Arrowtown is great in summer or winter; it’s a place for all seasons. There’s lots to explore and see in this marvellous, unspoiled region brimming with long history, culture and food and wines. You don’t have to strike gold to feel lucky on a holiday in Arrowtown, but you can still try.

The climate in the Arrowtown area is moderate and fairly stable. That means temperatures can top 20C in January but can fall to an average low of under 3C during the winter months, particularly in July. February is usually the driest month, and March the wettest.

Visitors can learn all about the area at the Lakes District Museum in the centre of Arrowtown. You can hire a pan there and see if you can find any gold in the river. Tours and excursions can be booked through the museum.
