Beachcomer Island is part of the Mamanuca group of around 20 islands in Fiji. It’s less than 20 kilometres from Fiji’s main Nadi International Airport on Viti Levu island, making it easy to get to by boat, from Port Denarau Marina in Nadi. The tropical climate gives temperatures of up to 35°C, and if you want to avoid the annual monsoon rains, go any time other than from December to February. Beachcomer Island is a tiny resort island but it’s an oasis of calm and relaxation and it perfectly encapsulates what people imagine a tropical island in the South Pacific to be.

Some of the accommodation on Beachcomber Island is beachside and around the ocean’s edge, while there’s also accommodation further back and surrounded by swaying palm trees that provide a certain amount of shade from the sun and therefore can be cooler. For the truly authentic Fijian experience, many who come to this glorious island want to stay in a bure. That’s the country’s traditional dwelling and is made from wood and topped with straw. It resembles a thatched cottage, but is smaller. There are many bures available on Beachcomber Island and they provide a wonderfully enjoyable element to this most magical of holidays.
