Travel to Cavtat

The croatian town of Cavtat is a popular tourist destination with 2.100 inhabitants. It sits on the Adriatic coast 15 kilometres south of Dubrovnik. Originally Cavtat was a Greek settlement called Epidauros. The Cavtat area is attractive because of the unpolluted sea and the mixture of old and new architecture.

Cavtat is a charming town that dates back to the 15th century. Arched across a picturesque harbour and fringed by pebbled beaches, this quaint destination is  the perfect spot for a peaceful break in the sun. The town’s narrow, winding streets are filled with enchanting sights to see and attractions to visit, from archaic architectural highlights, to museums filled with fascinating finds. Set just south of the bustling Dubrovnik, Cavtat offers a laid-back atmosphere, but is teeming with things to do and see.

You can spend the whole of your holiday to Cavtat being enchanted by its alluring historical sights and attractions, with its Old Town being home to an ancient church, a monastery and a collection of traditional houses. Cultural pockets of interest hide around every corner here, from the mausoleum in the park and cemetery, to the ancient Konoba restaurants hidden along its narrow streets, there’s something to interest everyone. Cavtat has an extensive art gallery, as well as a range of museums that you’ll be able to visit. There are also several festivals celebrated here throughout the year, many of which have their roots in the ancient history and traditions of the region.

The Dubrovnik Riviera of Croatia is well known for its fine, sandy beaches, and the ones in Cavtat are no different! At the beach you can spend your days lying in the sunshine or discovering what is beneath the water surface. Kayak hire and motorboat hire is available at the harbour. Drinking and dining can be enjoyed along the waterside throughout the day and into the evening, with a lot of charming restaurants and bars set up along the harbour, providing the perfect setting for people watching and sampling the local cuisine.

The tourists love the numerous bars and restaurants which line the seafront, here you will find offers that suits everyone, from the cheapest pizza to exclusive and expensive specialties prepared by master chefs. As the sun sets over the Adriatic Sea, you’ll find that the fun is only just beginning! The nightlife here is busier and more energetic than on many of the nearby island destinations, and the venues on offer range from intimate cocktail bars to family restaurants and even a good selection of nightclubs and casinos, for those planning on a late night!

Cavtat holiday with children

Looking for an exciting way to keep the kids entertained? There are activities on offer here which are bound to appeal to even the most difficult-to-please members of the family! Take your family out on a Jeep safari through the nearby national parks for example, or enjoy a wealth of different water sports on offer down at the seafront.
