Ghazni is historically known as Ghaznin or Ghazna. It is a city in central Afghanistan, south of Kabul, with a population of around 270,000 people. The city is strategically located along the main road between Kabul and southern Afghanistan for thousands of years. Ghazni city serves as the capital of Ghazni Province.

Ghazni, is an important market town, particularly famous for embroidered sheepskin coats. This glorious city was ruined to the ground by Arab invaders in 869, by the Ghorid Sultan Alauddin in 1151 and Genghis Khan in 1221. The city did not recover its former grandeur.
