Ideally located on the banks of the River Orwell estuary, Ipswich is a premium waterfront holiday destination in England. The former industrial dock area is home to much of the town’s maritime heritage. The Ipswich Dock has become a thriving commercial centre devoted primarily to leisurely activities and pursuits.

Holy Trinity Church

Rich in history, Ipswich is home to a number of heritage buildings worth visiting. Of significant importance is the Holy Trinity Church located on the waterfront. The country church is significant because it is one of the few built during the reign of William IV. Don’t be fooled by the building’s plain exterior, the interior is a magnificent work of art. Also found in Ipswich is the world’s oldest circle of church bells located in St Lawrence Church.

Ipswich Town Hall

Another important building is the Ipswich Town Hall, built in 1866 by Bellamy and Hardy of Lincoln. Today, the Town Hall is still used as an arts centre and events venue promoting culture and diversity in the area. The hall is a prominent gallery showcasing the visual arts.

New Wosley Theatre

The performing arts are nourished with a number of theatres and venues located throughout Ipswich. Located on Civic Drive, the New Wosley Theatre seats 400 patrons and shows a variety of productions. The iconic theatre was built in 1979 but its first production was not until 2001.

Tolly Cobbold brewery

Along with art, Ipswich is also known for its beer. The town is home to the famous Tolly Cobbold brewery which dates back to the 19th century. Rebuilt between 1894 and 1896, it remains one of the finest Victorian breweries in England.
