Travel to Mazatlan

Located along the Pacific Coast, Mazatlan looks out over the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula. It is a city with some unique cultural influences, as both Spanish and German immigrants settled in the area between the 15th and 19th centuries. You’ll find a touch of Bavaria, a touch of Madrid, and a distinctly Mexican fusion of the two.

The beaches of Mazatlan are the main attraction, most being a short walk from the downtown area. Visit Olas Atlas and you’ll see many of the monuments of the city, including a statue of a deer which reflects the name of the city. Norte Beach offers a handful of monuments to enjoy too, including one to local brewery. Cerritos Beach and Isla de la Piedra Beach offer their own charms as well.

Several events are held throughout the year in Mazatlan to enjoy, with the most popular being the annual Carnival. The Carnival celebration enjoyed is 120th anniversary in 2018. There is a Latin dance festival, a city cultural festival, and a book fair that bring in plenty of visitors. International Motorcycle Week is another fun event, held during the Easter holiday.

Like many Mexican resort communities, you’ll find parasailing, surfing, and other beach activities to enjoy at your convenience. Be sure to linger for the sunset, because they are often amazing, with their strawberry colors. Mazatlan is a beautiful combination of history, culture, and natural wonders.
