Travel to Monza

You’ll find Monza in northern Italy, in the high plains of Lombardy, and it is perfectly situated between Milan and Brianza. With a history that dates to the 3rd century BC, you can find Roman ruins, artifacts from the Middle Ages, and modern delights to enjoy during your stay.

The main site to explore in Monza is the expansive Monza Park. It is one of the largest urban parks on the continent and was the first walled park as well. Completed in 1808, the park includes portions of the Lambro River and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza racetrack. About one-third of the park is kept as forested lands, with several kilometers of trails to explore.

In its history, Monza is known to have withstood over 30 different sieges. Despite this fact, the Porta d’Agrate is the only portion of the original fortifications of the city. Nearby are the Cathedral of Saint John, with is black and white marbled façade, and the historical center of the city.

Within the city center, you’ll find several beautiful sites to tour. Be sure to include the Santa Maria in Strada, the Arengario, the 17th century Oratory of St. Gregory, and the Royal Villa that was built during the time of Austrian rule over the village.

You’ll find several museums are worth a tour in Monza as well. Try the Cathedral Museum for a look at early Medieval items. The Iron Crown and the Cross of Agilulf are housed there. Several theaters and cinemas are also available.
