How do you get the cheapest tickets to Verona ?

When Shakespeare chose Verona as the setting for Romeo and Juliet, he had no idea he would give the city its reputation as the most romantic vacation destination in all of Italy. Every year couples from all around the world come to this charming medieval city to experience the greatest love story of all time firsthand. With its incredible cuisine, wine, architecture and scenery, it’s hard not to fall in love on your Verona vacation, either with someone special or the city itself, although your romance is guaranteed a happier ending.

You’ll have no shortage of wonderful places to stay on your Verona vacation. Romantics will feel most at home in the right bank neighborhood where Juliet’s house is located. The left bank is home to the famous Roman theater, and also boasts some lively bars and restaurants. Most of the city’s main attractions are located in the historic center along the banks of the River Adige. This neighborhood was originally enclosed by walls built by the Romans and is where you’ll find ancient ruins, medieval churches, and other historic attractions including the Piazza delle Erbe.

Verona became forever linked with romance after Shakespeare chose it as the hometown of his two most famous lovers: Romeo and Juliet. Traces of the Bard’s star-crossed pair can be found all over the city.

Juliet’s House on Via Cappello is a 13th-century building that shows the true power of Shakespeare’s stories: thousands of visitors each year flock to see the balcony where the most famous love scene in literature look place, as well as the bronze statue of the heroine herself located in the courtyard. It’s said to be good luck and a tradition of leaving love letters on the courtyard walls. The interior of the house is a museum dedicated to Renaissance furniture, paintings, and depictions of the doomed couple, as well as costumes and sets from the 1968 Franco Zeffirelli version of the tragedy that was filmed in the city.

Verona’s history stretches far beyond Shakespearean times. The Romans left their mark on the city as well, and the enormous ancient amphitheatre they built is still used today for concerts, theatrical performances, and even open-air operas. A stroll through the medieval city streets will transport you to another age; the Basilica of San Zeno Maggiore with its famous bell tower that features in Dante’s Divine Comedy is particularly impressive at night.

After you stop at Piazza dei Signori to admire the illuminated church, stop for a romantic dinner under the stars at one of the restaurants in the square. Verona is known for its delicious risotto rice dishes and fresh cheeses. End the night with a glass of wine at a bar overlooking the river. The region’s soave white wine is world-famous, and as you sip, laugh, and admire the view of the glittering city you’ll understand why it’s the setting of the most famous love story in history.
