The design of the museum is unique and it is situated in a seven story building that has randomly spaced windows that overlook the Ure river.
If you want to get an intimate look at the history of skiing, then the Swedish Ski Museum in Umeå should be your next stop. You’ll get a glimpse of how skiing helped to develop the area since the 14th century and how the Sami settlers used skiing as a means of herding their stock of reindeer. There’s also an outdoor museum that is excellent in season that shows a look at life in the region. You’ll also get to put your eyes on what is believed to be the world’s oldest ski, which is thought to be 5,200 years old.
