Why You Should Visit Bridgetown

Established by English settlers in 1628, Bridgetown has grown into a thriving, modern island capital. It’s the most eastern island of those that are grouped into the Caribbean and is just north of South America. Most of the sites that you’ll want to explore in the city are within walking distance of where you’ll be staying, so be sure to bring some comfortable footwear.

Diving is one of the primary activities for visitors to enjoy in Bridgetown. One- or two-tank dives are available. Many of the resorts offer diving classes for those who may need it and multi-day diving packages are also available. If you prefer, most of the dive shops and resorts offer snorkeling as an alternative.

Outside of diving, you’ll find that life revolves around sports in this island capital. Catch an ODI at Kensington Oval for an amazing experience. The atmosphere that surrounds cricket in the West Indies is energetic and unique. Bridgetown also offers an extensive calendar for horse racing, with Derby Day and Gold Cup Day drawing large crowds.

If you like the idea of diving, but don’t want to deal with scuba equipment, then consider a submarine cruise during your holiday.

Every evening, you’ll find it tempting to make your way to Careenage. This is the central location for restaurants, bars, pubs, and boutiques in the city. Make sure to stop for some locally produced rum at least once during your stay.

Beautiful skies, warm sand, and incredible sunsets will compliment whatever your plans in Bridgetown happen to be. If you’ve always wanted to explore the West Indies, make this city be your next destination.
