Travel to Argaka

Located in the Paphos District, Argaka was built in a region where rivers flowed to the sea. The sandstone foundations helped families to build a small village in the late 19th century that has slowly grown into a coastal working-class village today. About 1,000 people call Argaka home, which means the sand and sunshine are just as warm and welcoming as the village itself.

About 4km from the village, located in the forest, is a small chapel that is dedicated to St. George. The chapel is said to be built on the ruins of an ancient village that was called Eso Makounda. The original chapel was destroyed, but was fully restored in 1989 by the village. The interior accommodates about 20 people and mass is held there about twice per year.

You can’t miss the beaches of Argaka. There are expansive, golden, and often empty. The turquoise waters come right up to your toes and beachcombing can be a wonderful morning habit. Consider bringing a pole with you to do some fishing too. Just stick it into the sand and keep an eye on it to see if you caught anything.

The beautiful blue boats of Argaka can often be seen just off the shore, trying to bring in the catch of the day. Some may offer charters or tours, so you can see Cyprus from a unique perspective. Argaka is everything you could ever want from an island destination. Make your way here, pick a favorite spot, and be prepared to relax.
